Unless you want to go back to the wasp analogy, where the species parasitically lays its eggs inside the host to give their young a food supply when the hatch. That seems plausible, though I don't know why they would need to embed the eggs in the womb when the torso cavity would probably be a greater source of nutrition for the larvae
