Are we SURE certain animals can't feel complex emotions like love?

Based on absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever, I have a suspicion this might be one of those things where over time we will gradually discover that more and more basic animals can feel the emotion of love. Right now all amphibians and lizards are excluded from emotional capacity.
