I decided to start by subtracting 3 from both sides. Then to keep y alone,

I divided both sides of the equation by -3. Then, simplifying the fraction on the right into two fractions.

In order to get rid of the fraction 8 over - 3, I multiplied by the reciprocal of the fraction both sides of the equation.

I can't see the error. Please can you solve it?

(8-3y)/(-3) = y-8/3, not 8/-3+y*-3/8
What kind of witchery is this?

Why not just
2x + 3y = 8
3y = 8 - 2x
y = 8/3 - 2x/3?

The 5th line is bullshit. The right hand side of the 4th line is 8/(-3) - (3y)/(-3)=8/(-3) + y.
