And if it's the entire unit, could you essentially launch a nuke strapped to a large block of say concrete or similar? A nuke doesn't weigh very much compared to the launch capacity of a Falcon Heavy with enough velocity for a mars injection. Would that increase the amount of deflection of the asteroid, or is mostly inelastic collision where the more mass involved, the less velocity the objects (asteroid + block of concrete) have after the collision (explosion)?
