Sorry, had to remake this thread.

Why was this such a big deal for a few months? Can't we just extrapolate what black holes are supposed to look like?

It was allegedly made by a female scientist. In fact she paid a male grad student to draw a circle in MS paint then published it as her original work and is now scientist of the century.

Taxpayer $$$ pays people to make it a big deal on online communities, because if people are talking about "le Blackholes", then they won't be talking about all of the criminal activities the government currently sponsors.
