My course starts Monday. So far I've decided to double major in Mathematics and English Literature. I will do a master's degree in Mathematics right after. I want to solve all of the big problems, and also write poetry/fiction.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Assuming you go to a non-target you'll be unemployable post-graduation, which you may not care about yet, but you will blow a ton of money on credentials nobody will care about. Your only options will really be to teach, a low-paid and unrespectable profession. Either switch to CS, get on the pre-med track, or drop the English major to self-teach CS on the side.

Major doesn't have quite as much baring on career as people think it does, if that's what your worried about.

If you've found a good compromise between something you're interested in and something you're not embarrased to talk about, that's a great start.
