It can ultimately depend a lot on the professor and the course structure as well. Not coping, I'm in my 4th year with a 4.0, but I dropped the fuck out of my Calc 3 class the first time, a couple of weeks in, because the (woman) professor used a "flipped classroom" style and it made the class take twice as much time because you had to watch lectures, take notes, do homework and quizzes out side of class, then waste your class time doing retarded worksheets. I absorbed very little and had I stayed in for the midterm, would have done poorly. Second time was with a normal old dude that just lectured, and gave us homework and tests and it went fine. I've also heard horror stories about departmental exams where a prof or grad student can be teaching shit that's not even covered on the tests that everyone from all sections of that class takes.
