Requesting insight from someone that knows too god damn much about Ribosomes, Golgi shit, and Protein Synthesis.
(How the fuck does the task queue for protein synthesis handle task scheduling?)
If my cell is working on making proteins for something important, and some mRNA pops up telling it to crank out some spike proteins...
Does it drop whatever the fuck it was just doing to attend to the spike production?
Will it automatically go back to what it was doing before making the spike proteins?

Do we have any idea what the opportunity cost is, at the cellular and macro-cellular level, for interrupting the protein synthesis work queue, out of order?
