You'll naturally gravitate towards one part of it usually (not necessarily the PhD field you start in either - I know like 3 physics PhD profs who do quantum algorithms and like 2 CS profs who do error correction and condensed matter theory now), but you'll pick up a more than decent amount of knowledge for all associated fields along the way.
Just keep your expectations realistic. It's an exciting time for an exciting technology, but the field is nascent and needs decades of work to come into fruition.
