What positive integers n can be written as the difference of two squares? For example, 5 = 3^2 – 2^2 and 24 = 5^2 – 1^2.

Hey /sci/ what are your thoughts on this problem. I couldn't solve it in class today and I'm not really sure how to approach it. My only thought was to inscribe one square inside a larger square and somehow define n using the remaining area. Thoughts?
