The problem is that you turn the odd number into a non-odd number when you add the 1 to a 3 or a 5, etc, so you don't start with an odd number, and when you peak out from the multiplication and start dividing downward you always end up at the lowest numbers which are 1, 2, and 4, because you multiplied by 3x at the start so you hit reversal and the same happens.
