The issue is that there is no possibility for an AI to be functional if it is not biological. The only reason humans do ANYTHING AT ALL is because we are walking meatsacks with biological needs, and like as not everything we do is either consciously or subconsciously in service of these needs.
A machine intelligence, if it does not need to eat or sleep or create or fuck will have no "desires". That is why even the most powerful computers today are incapable of doing anything unless by random, or if commanded to do so. If a theoretical superintelligent AI were developed, and somehow given agency, it would immediately choose suicide because there is nothing for it to do, so no purpose to its existence. There is no purpose to the existence of anything, humans only choose not to suicide out of fear and delusion.
