We’ve gotten to a point where yes, nobody will ever compute something like this by hand.
In industry you will always, ALWAYS, use an engine. The majority of advanced mathematics is performed within software, the issue that comes up is that if we don’t teach this than we get to a point where nobody actually understands what the software is doing.
It would be very dangerous to get to a point where our math engines become black box machines, but then again… we are probably already past that point anyways; for instance a tx/rx assembly could take a person without a computer a lifetime to compute a complicated design versus someone using modeling software who could do it in a matter of weeks.
