It's more than performative now, it's ideological. Which is why it's a great time to be a high cost consultant. Companies that load up on diversity hires still need to get work done but their workforce can't do it.
The solution? Bring in consultants to do the real work while the woke workers take the credit.
Is that a drag on the bottom line? It sure is but it doesn't matter when social pressure and eventually legal pressure is used to force all companies to adopt similar productivity destroying woke policies. This is why NASDAQ and the NYSE are both going to start delisting companies without enough racial, gender, and sexual identity diversity on their corporate boards. No company can be allowed to not "enjoy" the fruits of diversity.
On that level playing field, consultants will make the difference. If you're good at what you do, you can command a premium price to make woke company one out compete woke company two.
