Why does logic have so many different symbols? My discrete math class basically has completely different symbols for all the operators, except equivalence and disjunction.

Philosophy BA getting a second bachelor's in CS told me that discrete math taught the contents of symbolic logic compressed to the first third or half of the semester IIRC.

I just feel like I wouldn't be able to handle being a mediocre mathematician, obviously I know not everyone is going to contribute significantly to mathematics, but wouldn't I be better off in a different field if I don't show some serious promise? I also enjoy physics, but I feel like if I were going for a physics PhD I would want a BS in math anyways
I know I should probably just be doing a math major for the love of it but still, my questions remain

It’s a shitty way of describing the main connective of a statement. Depending on what kind of logic you’re doing connectives are used differently, but each term the main connective is applied to (there can be zero, one or two depending on the connective) will either be atomic or have its own connective and so on.
