You know, I get why you might want personal underground pods(tm) for your car. Since it means you don't have to wait for a tram/subway for 10minutes and share it with other people and all that.

because tesla has to find another usage scenario for their electric truck batteries. using them for self propelled container sleds riding inside boring tunnels is just coming up by itself as natural conclusion. a tunnel without electrical installations or tracks , maintenance mostly needed for the sleds, faster to build tunnels, easier to maintain tunnels

thats what ventilation shafts are for. high speed trains going 300-600kmh do not suffer from your piston effect since they drive ventilation's into the tunnel to equalize pressure differentials

this is not hyperloop. hyperloop was supposed to be on the surface, tubes on stilts.
this is a tunnel bored by the boring company.
hyperloop never got out of the field trials they made with universities.
the fuck you are talking about, this is just a tunnel, no one is going to pull air out of a tunnel which is supposed to run shipping containers, which contain goods that are not vacuum hardened.

By making them cheaper, building them faster, while still keeping the similar rate of passengers capacity per hour?

The Las Vegas boring tunnel does 25K PPH. Thats a rate similar to many subway systems whilst costing 1/100th the price.

It doesn't matter what the system is as long as key metrics are met. People focusing on the looks of the system are losing their mind and ignoring what truly matters. The convention center doesn't have couple billion dollars for 1.7 miles of travel. It only had 50 million. It needed to carry ~2

1) cheaper at building
2) faster at moving
3) more efficiently moving people
