>>14105125Looks like Hg-197 and below (Except for Hg-196 which is stable) will either undergo Beta+ decay or Electron Capture (most likely), turning it into Gold. Rarely it'll fuck up and Alpha decay instead, which won't chain decay into Gold at all.
Rough calculation of EC of Hg-197 into Au-197 yields a binding energy of about +0.6MeV (For reference, Beta- decay of C-14 has a value approx +0.15MeV) so, it's kinda a lot of energy. Not economically viable, if that's what you're wondering. You'd also be generating metric assloads of heat that you'd have to sink somewhere.
