How so?

1. Buy goat for 60 dollars, that puts you at negative 60 dollars.

2. Sell goat for seventy dollars - now you've made a 10 dollar profit. You're ten dollars in the black at this point.

3. Buy the goat for 80 dollars, now you're negative seventy dollars in the hole.

You sell for 70 which means oyu are now +10
You buy back for 80, which means you are now -70

I think its about the wording. OP asked for how much did you did "make" . Well in that sense you could say you made 2 steps of selling and 2 steps of buying.

You could also say you made 20 dollars in profit.

you could also say you made a goat 30 dollars more worth than you bought it, but had to expend 10 dollars to do so.

so OP made us believee its a tricky math question but.in reality we just manipulated the goat marketprice for our personal gain. i mean who would buy and sell and buy and then sell a goat at different prices. you dont do that. at least not immediately. the only reason to do that would be to redistribute the goat toa new owner which we possibly didnt do. so we are just leeching off of others people missfortune of buying a goat whose prices has been inflated by us.

its basically joke about differences between mathematics and economics languages.

Its like I can (half-jokingly) say that the proper answer to
"One dollar costs 0.8 euros. Whats better - 3.3 dollars or 2.8 euros?"
