EBV is not herpes.
Also, 90%+ of the population is EBV-positive.
The effect on MS only persists for a medium time period after infection.

EBV is spread almost universally by kissing and other foolhardy, unhygienic things like sharing drinking containers. The 10% pureblood chads who are EBV negative are spared most of the miserable symptoms if they get infected as adults, although they are a slightly higher risk of developing complications.
