Why is there this random extra force that conveniently only exists at super short distances? It doesn't even have a proper formula.
Wouldn't it make much more sense to assume that this strong force is actually just the same old gravity that we know and love? The only thing required for the strong force to be gravity is that there would have to be some reason for the electromagnetic force to get weaker at very short distances.
But it makes a lot more sense to posit some mechanism for electromagnetism to get weaker at short distances than to invent an entirely new force of nature.
