So water came to earth from space on an asteroid. Earth was uninhabitable at the time, so water created single cell organisms that's primary goal was to purify the air to keep the water alive. So as the earth got cleaner water started to become more sentient and created "life"(all living things require water) as a means of water being able to interact with the environment.
