No it isn't.
However, we made ethics up so ethics can change. It's not a law of nature.
Nothing in the universe would care about this machine except the consciousness that has ethics that would find this unethical.

absolutely ethical, if the machines are made out of unstable organic molecules that have a very limited and fixed lifetime in a warm environment then it is mandatory.
