In the UK at least, civil courses include more of the legal side of the job. Like you learn about rules, regulations, and codes. This really helps with getting a job.

You can do just about anything with a civil engineering degree if you put your mind to it. I know a guy who started off with civil engineering but is not a high-performance computing specialist cracking problems in statistical physics.

Fucking it's real and total. There are 30k Chemical Engineering positions IN TOTAL and we are graduating 13k PER YEAR.

130k engineering graduates are trying to fill new 2500 positions opening up between 2016-2026.

Also btw we have a """shortage of engineers""" and need more H1B visas.

It's BLS data, I didn't believe it either and just looked it up myself.

Anyway I don't care because I'm more senior and should be able to find my next job, but it's fucked up for newgrads that they are pushing for even more immigrants.
