>>14089374They aren’t in competition, they’re used for different things. Qualitative data refers to “qualities” we as humans ascribe to something. So that would be like gathering public opinion on a new speed limit. Their opinions are qualitative responses (happy, angry, etc) , and are not useful for drawing empirical conclusions generally since they don’t rely on some objective value or metric. Quantitative research uses measurable things, with values that can be turned into numbers, coordinates, values, %, etc. these can be transformed and compared and are more “empirical” ie. more objective and less subjective.
