Every modern candidate for the theory of everything is just a different form of aether theory which is fucking hilarious that we keep coming back to the same realization that an empty space made of nothing(no physical material) is retarded and makes no sense.
String theory assumes strings are everywhere throughout space at planck scales. In other wards it functions as a fluid aether theory.
Quantum field theory, assumes that there are literally dozens and dozens of fields that fill all space that you cant ever detect directly but are there trust me Bro LOL. Just another variation on the aether but with many fields instead of one.
Einstein's general relativity. Although he didn't make a show of saying it Einstein retracted his claims of the aether not existing and made it expressly clear around 1920 that "GR without an aether is unthinkable" there must be a quasi-elastic solid(continuous) field that unites all the forces, from which all forces are derived from. and that field is space itself. In the way that gravity is a bending of space, the other fundamental force fields of electrostatics and magnetism must be certain types of bending as well.
The true fundamental theory of everything is that the fundamental forces are all particle to space interactions and motion unifies them all. Magnetism to electric charge through velocity relative to aether, and inertia/gravity to electric charge through linear/non-linear accelerated motion through aether. Motion is what breathes life into the universe.
