Is the distance between any two points in a metric the same as the sum of vector addition with regards to basic proportionality?

Generally vector spaces have a metric. Normed vector spaces always have a metric. I'm not sure how you want to compare vector addition and the distance function. The result of vector addition is always a vector whereas the former is always a single number (scalar if you like).
