Why haven't prions wiped out humanity? I know this is a brainlet question but please answer me
Prion diseases essentially go like this

>turns brain to a sponge
>one protein gets into you and all your proteins start doing gay yoga forever
>basically John Carpenter's The Thing, but more transmissible
Never seen someone explain how this hasn't fucked us up all
