The strange thing about it is that most of the physics students at my university only took up through precal in highschool.
Here's why...in my third grade class the only math we did was memorize 1x1 through 12x12. Yes, memorize. It wasn't until 5th grade that we learned what multiplication actually was and the most advanced stuff was 435x824=?
y=mx+b is literally HONORS material in the 8th grade.
