intelligence and criminal behaviour (often non-moral though on edge cases not always so) are heavily studied and anti-correlated.
The magic behind is that the majority of people desire to do good and be good, but lack the ability to reason about the nature of good and evil. Given the anti correlation, it is natural to surmise that increased intelligence is used to increase ones understanding of their moral reasoning.
