>>14073807this is something we just don’t know the answer to. however, what we do know is that under the intense pressure of gas giant gravity, gases start to behave differently than they do on earth. take Jupiter for example. far enough in, the hydrogen that makes up the majority of its mass eventually transitions into liquid, and then metallic hydrogen. to convert the lightest gas into a metal… that’s an absurd amount of atmospheric density going on. at that depth and pressure, the metallic hydrogen still isn’t solid, it’s molten.
anyways the tl;dr is that gas giants have a lot of exotic shit going on in them, and their internal structure is likely more analogous to “cold unborn stars” than “rock planet with big sky”
