10 years ago, I actually went through an obsessive phase of comparing price per unit area of different sizes of pizzas at different pizza places with I compiled in an excel file and created graphs to interpret the data. In some places, buying 2 smalls is the best deal, in some places 2 mediums is the best deal and in some places 1 large is the best. However, price per unit area comparisons fall apart when you account for, inter alia: the non-proportional increase in pizza topping as you increase in size (large pizzas have a disproportionate increase in the amount toppings); occasional promos on certain sizes and flavors; discounts (veterans, PWD) which cannot apply to more than 1 item; the sense of superiority for taking pictures with a large pizza (status symbol); and special 4 in 1 pizzas with four types of toppings for each quadrant (only available for larger pizzas).
