I'm a little bit slow in the head, but how exactly does a rotating spacecraft give force to something that's inside the craft but not in direct contact? Is it airdrag, or what's it called in English, that eventually pulls one outwards?

you can see from the ball in the middle of the animation that an object at rest (relative to its environment) stays at rest (relative to its environment). it's coming into contact with the rotating frame, and being accelerated by it, that gives the impression of outwards force.

yeah, so if the outer ball was in rest at the start of the spin, how would it get pushed outwards? wouldn't the craft just spin around it while the ball stayed in the same position?

If it were at rest with respect to the inertial frame in which the center of the wheel is stationary, air drag would accelerate the ball so that it would hit the rim.

In the rotating frame, you would see a moving ball slowing down and dropping to the floor. It would look vaguely like an object in a low orbit dropping out of orbit because of atmospheric drag.

can you create artificial gravity by blowing air "downwards" at 9.81m/s speed? probably impractical and noisy, but in theory?

Yes, because that exerts a force on whichever thing is receiving the pressure. You're just pushing with air instead of pulling with gravity. That's also how air tunnels work btw.

but I guess it wouldn't really be that similar to real gravity since most force would be at the point of contact, like the head and shoulders, while the other body parts the air travels around them? basically the inner organs would still be in zero g since everything inside the body isn't connected stiffly?

what do you guys think would be the most practical way of achieving artificial gravity?
