Front end can be tricky too given that nobody uses vanilla JS anymore and you constantly have to learn the newest frameworks like React which are pretty confusing at first.

I have a CS title. Currently working as webdev. Anyone (with a brain, which already rules out a huge chunk of people but still) could do this job without prior education just by looking things up in google, youtube and stack overflow. Either that or I am undervaluing myself but I can say for sure that university didn't teach me anything remotely useful to do this job.

Webdev is looked down upon because it is a field where the incentive is overwhelming to never bother to make anything *good*, anything good engineering or high quality, and instead to get out something reasonably okay as fast as possible. It is a field that emphasizes time-to-market and looks, and de-emphasizes quality software in any way. This gets looked down upon as superficial flimflam by software developers with a more engineering-like background. Mobile development shares the same reputation, though with a higher variance.
