Its completely irrational to expect that someone is going to go to the effort to make a bait thread and then just let the effort be wasted when the thread 404s quickly. Are you aware of the sunk cost fallacy and how potent it is?
Thats just accounting for the actions and motivations of individual posters, theres also organized groups that post on these boards, such as the discord trannys from picrel. The group dynamic with them is one of them posts the bait and then the rest of the group posts a bunch of bait tier replies to add to the effect.
