Does math make people go crazy, or certain kinds of crazy aids with doing math? Is it just that certain kinds of crazy pushes people toward math and metaphysics and the like, or is it just a coincidence that there are so many troubled mathematicians? Maybe something to do with Jews w/ higher rates of high IQs and separately higher rates of neuroses skewing the pattern numbers?

But then anecdotally, a kid I went to elementary school with who was borderline mad from an early age (threw tantrums, was violent) was way way better at math than anyone else in the school and was clearly some kind of genius. Clear memory of him knowing more about math than the teachers and we were probably 6-7 years old. I think he's been in psychiatric wards as an adult but don't know that for sure.
