Science is "progressing" to there being thousands of genders and denying that race exists. Again, you're the one who brought up consciousness. I don't agree with the notion that a human being has a consciousness in the sense of an ineffable immediate experience (akin to a soul) which is distinct from the material functions of one's brain. As I do not believe there is such a thing as consciousness, I don't believe that uploading can have any effect on it. I am a proponent of mind uploading, but I clearly do not subscribe to the beliefs of whatever group you are trying to argue against here.
