Why are Polar Bears and Grizzly Bears classified as different species rather than just the same species with different fur colors?

Polars and grizzlies can produce fertile offspring and were only separated about 150,000 years ago. Their differences are superficial.

Taxonomy is a man-made classification system used to understand and classify the diversity of living forms that exist on Earth, it is a simplified representation of it, but STUPID FUCKS (especially dumb /pol/tards) insist on giving it more relevance than it should have outside of science.

Yes. Science by itself is a construct, yet it gave us computers, cars, indoor plumbing and fertilizer. Just because something is predicated on ideas doesnt mean itisnt very much real, global warming for example.

Well yes by the simple definition of species they could be called the same species, but in real life their lifestyles are very different and a pizzly won't survive in the artic and won't survive in the green areas either with whiteish fur.

So overall grizzlies and polar bears have very different lifestyles and they would not survive in eachothers niches/living areas. A pizzly would have a hard time too.

This was a good question tho.

It not really is a construct science is repeatable. As for species sometimes they are really close to eachother like polar bears and grizzly bears, but they have very distinct lifestyles and could not live in eachothers living areas.

If you put a grizzly in the artic it will die. The polar bear would also die in green areas.
