Do you think one day that we will actually be able send astronauts to Mars? Will be able to colonize on the moon or throughout our solar system? Or are we doomed to go extinct?

Elon Musk said in like 2015 that the plan was to have people on Mars by 2020 or something. The reality is that there is just no major reason to do so. It's costly and dangerous to do so, and an astronaut dying on the mission is a PR/funding disaster for whichever agency or company tries it. With the advancements in robotics, there's literally no reason to not just send machines to do shit for us.

The technology exists, it could be done, but nobody is investing on it. Either the governments invest a shitload and we do it now, or we wait until spaceflight becomes cheaper and we do it later.
Colonizing a planet will give back lots of inventions that will make it profitable, but it still costs a lot for now

-Barely any air
-ground is poisonous
-is a cold desert
-takes a while to get there
-low gravity (martian-born children will be physically weaker than Earth children)
-Irradiated wasteland (could be circumvented)

The positives are
-has high amounts of water ice beneath it's surface and at the poles compared to the "Mars is dry" myth
-solar energy is decent-ish there
-Perchlorates can be washed away
-second most habitable place in the solar system after Earth (yeah amazing luck right) (no, the moons of saturn and Jupiter don't count it's way past cold over there)
