This reminds me of a case in Texas about 7 years ago, where a 27 year old man had a seizure & stroke, and the doctors had convinced the man's mother that they should pull life support and bring in the organ donation team. Then the man's father showed up with a gun and forced the doctors to keep his son on life support, and a few hours later his son was able to squeeze his hand, and then made a full recovery after.
Looking at some follow-ups, while the dad was arrested, he was released with time served, and he and his son were running an electrical engineering company.
