All dreaming is based off of stuff you experienced. People who are blind experience exclusively auditory dreams instead of visual ones.
That said, having a basic amount of knowledge on a subject can allow you to derive a massive amount of knowledge...if you happen to be a prodigy.

To be fair, words are easy to pick up subconsciously. That is literally what babies do, and if you're younger than 25 or so your brain is still pretty good at learning shit passively

If your childhood was in a vacuum of space devoid of sense input you would have a chunk of neuron unaffected by neural imprintation. This would mean that your memory would be based on genetic memory. Since every neuron of this chunk would have the same DNA your brain would be incredibly stupid; however, you would hypothetically have memories from past lives. There may be minor versions of this of DNA unaffected by imprintation (or parts of DNA) which could be responsible for abject creativity.

If you couldnt know things without an external source, how could you ever learn your first thing? Think about it, you'd have to have something there at first to be able to make what you're seeing into knowledge. You've got to know what knowledge is, so you can know what it isn't, before you can know stuff. Else, you'd know things that weren't knowledge, but that's impossible.
