but yes I agree. Anyone doing it (at least with some conditions) is a mathemagician. Not necessarily a paid one, but one nevertheless!

No, and I won't. I'm gonna become the best maths & physi/x/ teacher ever! Some may say this is me giving up, but I have not enough passion left and would just burnout in academia. Teaching on the other hand is something I did during my bachelor's and master's degree stuff and found it nice.

He's not wrong. It's a curse to be high IQ and to have all the tools needed to see how fucked up everything is (yet beautiful at the same time). Once you do the maths on financial and life success, you'll learn it's mostly down to luck.

I don’t feel smart until I start talking to someone who isn’t a PhD mathematician and I realize that 99.99% of the world has zero critical thinking skills when it comes to marginally technical topics. The hype around neural networks is one I run into a lot. Most People would literally believe in alchemy if a trendy company put a marketing campaign behind it
