One of those was that the great thinkers (he was mostly talking about great writer though), even the younger ones, have not just a gift. All without exceptions are people that worked A LOT. They worked a fucking lot, and ingested what the previous ones did. For the vast majority of us, we're not thinking. When we say I think, this is just not true. We're just reapeating what other people said. This is why ingesting everything your pairs did before you is important. Because only then can you synthesize all this and come to a novel idea.
I firmly believe this. I did a lot of history of individual sciences, all the major ones. And all the big names are people that did not stumble on an idea, They worked for years.
