>>14051491Particles are not components of composite materials. If it has a discrete start and a discrete end, such as a temperature range for frequency of electromagnetic emission, it's a particle. The material they are made of is spacetime. The real principle is for something to exist, it needs to resist interactions. Everything in the universe wants an easier way to interact, and if it can't withstand it something else annihilates it. It also needs to interact, otherwise it's impossible for something else to determine if it exists. Internal configuration is the medium of interaction.
Quarks were first observed in the November Revolution of particle physics. They have "color charge". All that means is instead of positive/negative, you have three poles, and that worked well with the numbers from deep inelastic scattering on the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
