Well it's used in research all the time, and it's a usefull tool, but it isn't what popsci and hollywood told you it is.

Well yes, but actually no. There was the chinese guy who tried to make these twins AIDS resistant. Got in a bit of trouble, but not much.
The thing is, CRISPR is harder to use then most people seem to think.

Crispr is old tech. They updated the method in 2019 or so.

always found it weird how CRISPR refers to a segment in bacterial DNA and the helix double-break is performed by the Cas enzyme, yet the method is referred to as CRISPR instead of Cas

Just easier to talk about it. Officially, the name is CRISPR/CAS9. Technically, CAS is "only" the entryway for crispr, which is the actual goal of the procedure. It's like not calling a cake an oven cake.
