>>14050474>Having a meritocracy is important because you want the best person in each job.Warning, I'm going to explain a take which 4chan is going to hate. I unironically believe race and gender based affirmative action is good for science.
Suppose I have 10 faculty positions open and 20 male applicants + 5 female applicants, of which the males ALL completely outclass the females. I automatically hire the best 5 males of course, and let's assume I hire the next best 5. The remaining men and women all fill in lower positions, and in the end we're left with 4 males and 3 females who couldn't cut it and had to work at mcdonalds.
Suppose instead I automatically hired the 5 females. I get worse workers, sure, but in the end we're left with 7 males who had to work at McDonald's.
Suppose those males had fewer children, women dont like wage slaves, so they get knocked out of the gene pool. In the first scenario only 3 of the lowest men got knocked out, but in the second a whole 7 got knocked out. We would expect the quality of applicants born to these men and women to go up more than they would have without discrimination. It's sort of like a Eugenics type experiment, the more you discriminate against white men, the more intelligent they'll evolve to be. This isn't unlike in the middle ages, where Europeans enacted laws to discriminate against Jews, giving them obscene rents, and so forth, so the Jews evolved to by hyper intelligent because only lenders, merchants and such had high enough incomes to pay the rent.
