If greenhouse gases are causing global warming, then why don't we just get rid of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?

I actually calculated that we can melt the ice shield pretty quickly if we plant our unfiltered coal plants directly onto the ice shield.

It would be more accurate to say the increase in greenhouse gases causes global warming, so why don't we undo the increase in greenhouse gases? Nature would do that for us if we stopped continually dumping CO2. It's harder to clean up this mess than it is to not make it in the first place.

It takes a lot of energy to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Obviously that energy needs to be produced in a way that does not create even more CO2 than you capture. Also afterwards you need to store the captured carbon somewhere.

The problem is that there is no demand for this. You can of course tax people to do it and there might even be a tiny market for civilian investment but practically speaking no one wants to pay for someone to take carbon from the air and dump it into a cave.

Sure it is. In fact, because of the residence time of biochar compared to atmospheric CO2 it's possible to sequester too much carbon. Carbon emissions also have to be eliminated, of course.

Nonsense. We only need to sequester a fraction of our emissions for long enough that the natural carbon cycle can remove our emissions through it's own sinks. Can you think of a cheaper or better way to than with biochar?
