I’m trying to find a fun pet project/interest as something to look forward to while I learn CS in uni. As a surfer, I thought that it’d be neat if I could somehow combine swell data and model it against my local coastline’s bathymetry. There is a big company (Surfline) that already does this commercially, but not to the pinpoint accuracy that I’m dreaming up.

I know this is a total pipe dream, but I think it’s a fun idea to work towards. My question to you guys is what kind of subjects should I learn with before tackling this? It seems really multi disciplinary, so I’m not exactly sure where to start.
