Freud was an absolute fraud. He wanted to fuck his mom so he assumed other people must as well. He basically just made up shit about the structure of the human mind which science has not confirmed. Freud's problems regarding the oedipus complex are a demonstration of the main barrier in psychoanalysis, and really psychology in general.
We simply can't tell what other people are thinking, and can only rely on their self-reporting and our sense of empathy to determine anything.
Freud wanted to fuck his mom, so his empathy was off. He also (rightfully) assumed that people who do want to fuck their moms would not admit it.
His conclusion, that everyone wants to fuck their mom but is secretly hiding it, is then logical from his own point of view.
