not more than 60, you should also draw stuff on the blackboard and show some graphics to supplement your talk

calculations and examples are given on the blackboard and you can show some extra plots as a supplement

aim for about 40 to 60 slides

it is supposed to be online because head of university said so, maybe this is why my phd supervisor asked me to do these e-classes, because he is too boomer to operate google classroom stuff. one of these classes is supposed to be a laboratory but it is not doable online so i think i should lecture these 3h... maybe i will ask students to read some paper before so that we can discuss. and maybe i will show some yt vid

It depends on how long you're sitting on each slide for discussion. Estimate that you'll sit on a percentage of slides for 1.5 minutes max, another percentage at 3 minutes, and a small percentage at 5 minutes.

No more than 40. Unless you have plots and graphs that you can kinda skim over, if do no more than 50. And, for God's sake, make class engaging and entertaining. Use real world analogies and examples.

If you're a good lecturer, expect to spend about 3-5 minutes per slide on average. If you're a bad lecturer, follow the stupid 1 minute per slide mantra used by salesmen. Are you selling an idea, or teaching a topic? If you can't spend 3-5 minutes per slide, then you're unqualified to teach the material.
