Information is the opposite of entropy. As entropy grows information is lost. And entropy only increases in an isolated system.
Example: Burn a book. Information was destroyed, entropy increased.

In classical physics, information cant be destroyed
In relativity, information can be destroyed.
In quantum mechanics, information cant be destroyed.

However there are various interpetation of QM where information is destroyed. The popular one is copenhagen whereby information is necessarily destroyed to create a collapse. However competing interpetation many world never destroys information.
